Evening Lecture: Coalbrookdale – Valley of Invention

The Coalbrookdale Company is credited with developing ironworking technologies that made the Industrial Revolution possible. This online talk by Georgina Grant will chart the innovations made by the Coalbrookdale Company, including their most famous creation – the world’s first iron bridge – and the impact their technologies had on how people lived, worked and communicated across the world.
The talk will take place online on Wednesday 19th November at 5pm GMT so wherever you are in the world, grab a cup of tea or a glass of something and join us to find out more about this fascinating place and time which changed the course of history.
Georgina Grant is Curator of Technology at National Museums Scotland and was previously Senior Curator at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. She has a particular interest in nineteenth century iron foundry production with a focus on decorative and architectural ironwork and associated trade literature. She recently completed a Headley Fellowship with Art Fund on the subject and currently sits on the Council of the National Heritage Ironwork Group.
