The Victorian Society: A day of Butterfield, Street and Webb in East Grinstead Led by Kathryn Ferry

 

Date: Saturday 13 June 2026, 10.20 am – 5.00 pm

Where: In-person, East Grinstead Railway Station, Railway Approach, East Grinstead, Sussex, RH19 1EB

This trip explores how the three Grade I listed buildings in the Sussex town of East Grinstead are connected through
their Victorian architects.

Starting at the Jacobean Sackville College we will see the chapel re-ordering designed by William Butterfield. We’ll then move on to the Old Convent built by GE Street. Lunch will be at the superb Arts and Crafts house of Standen, designed around an existing farmhouse by Philip Webb. We will see the gardens then enjoy a special tour of the interior.

Cost: £65 (includes lunch)
