Date<\/strong>: Wednesday 12 August 2026, 15:00-16:15<\/p>\n Where:<\/strong> National Slate Museum An exciting opportunity to see conservation in action as the National Slate Museum undergoes a significant redevelopment project.<\/p>\n Join the IHBC Wales branch, accompanied by Conservation Architect Elinor Gray-Williams and contractor MPH for a tour of conservation works at the National Slate Museum as it undergoes significant redevelopment works.<\/p>\n We will explore how decisions have been made to balance the conservation of the 19th Century workshops, several of which still contain historic machinery and tools, with telling the story of the international slate industry. Discussions will include how the project has developed with the input of historic environment professionals to take full account of the site’s grade 1 Listing, Scheduled Monument status, and inclusion in the World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n NB: The tour will take place on a live site.
