A day-conference aimed at architects and surveyors involved in, or seeking to take on church work as quinquennial inspectors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This day conference is organised by the Diocese of Worcester, with the Dioceses of Gloucester, Hereford and Oxford and will bring together quinquennial inspectors and buildings conservation professionals assisting Anglican parishes in caring for their church buildings. For our 2026 conference, we also want to welcome those buildings professionals who are new to working with churches, or are considering church work.<\/p>\n

Presentations and discussions on a range of topics will take place across the day at St Helen’s Church in Worcester, which has recently been through a major and successful reordering project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This hands-on course offers a practical introduction to lime plaster as a key material in conserving heritage buildings, including mixing and applying lime plasters, renders and mortars.<\/p>\n

Led by experienced plasterer and SPAB Fellow, Daahir Mohamed, the course provides a solid foundation in the principles, materials, and techniques of traditional lime plastering. Alongside demonstrations and guided practice, participants will explore the wider significance of lime in sustainable building repair and heritage conservation. The course also includes an introduction to career pathways within the heritage plastering and conservation trades.<\/p>\n

The course is delivered over three days, spread over two weeks of each month. The course can either be booked as a 3-day package, to complete within the month, or as each day has a specific focus (see website for details), single days can be booked according to participants’ experience, interest and desired pace.<\/p>\n

Following the sensational public reception to the re-rendering of the Tower at St Oswald\u2019s Church, Askrigg, the project team invite you to a study day on 21 May 2026 starting at 1000 am.<\/p>\n

The study day will explore the experiences of the project team (both before and after the rendering) of this King of Prussia award-winning (2025) conservation project, and present an opportunity for architects and surveyors to reflect on managing changes of appearance to historic churches. DAC members, specialist masons & builders and parish representatives managing damp issues are also welcome.<\/p>\n

Tower internal and external tours will be conducted throughout the day by the project\u2019s masons.<\/p>\n

There is no fee for the day.<\/p>\n

Refreshments and a soup lunch will be provided. Donations will be welcomed.<\/p>\n
