\nGrasmere, Cumbria<\/strong><\/p>\n

Phil Braithwaite of UK Restoration Services invites you to a site visit and social at St Oswald’s Church, Grasmere in Cumbria. St Oswald\u2019s, Grasmere, is a Grade 1 listed building and the project is to remove all the cement-based render from the church tower and re-render with a hot-mix lime render. The project will be one of the largest hot lime render jobs recently undertaken in the UK. The day will consist of a \u2018hard hat\u2019 tour of the scaffolding to the roof of the tower, talks in the church hall and demonstrations in the site compound. Contributors will include project architects Crosby Granger Architects. Lunch will be provided by UK Restoration Services; contributions into a (hard) hat will be requested. If you would like to attend, please email admin@buildinglimesforum.org.uk stating you would like to attend and any dietary requirements.<\/p>\n

The days programme is as follows:<\/p>\n

9:00 – Arrival (Tea and Coffee available)
\n9.15 – Introduction by UK Restoration (Welfare, Site Safety etc.)
\n9.30 \u2013 Crosby Granger Architects – background and Overview to the project at St. Oswald’s
\n10.00 – UK Restoration – the works so far at St. Oswald’s and other recent projects.
\n10.30 – Tea \/ Coffee Break
\n11:00 – David Wiggins – Hot Mixed Mortars and their functional characteristics in regards to render.
\n11:30 – Cumbrian Clock Company
\n12:00 – Burlington Slate
\n12:30 – Lunch Break
\n13:30 – Attendees split into three groups for 30 minute sessions – Site Tour \/ HMM Demonstrations \/ Church History and Tour (By Richard Beskeen)
\n15:00 – 15:30 – Afternoon Tea
\n15:30 \u2013 Guest Speaker – Elaine Blackett-Ord
\n16.00 \u2013 Guest Speaker \u2013 Alan Gardner
