10.30 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Background by Catherine Parish of South Ayrshire Council to Ayr Conservation Area, (designated 1969), and current planning issues in the burgh.<\/p>\n

11.00 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Patrick Dunne of Ayr Renaissance on the strategy for Ayr High Street that involves major townscape surgery within the Conservation Area to deliver a masterplan.<\/p>\n

11.30 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Charles Strang \u2013 conservation area issues in Ayr in the 1970s. (Charles worked for Kyle and Carrick District Council in the 1970s.<\/p>\n

12.00 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Walking tour of the main part of Ayr Conservation Area, looking at the buildings by the river targeted by a completed THI, the new masterplan area, other town centre work and areas of interest<\/p>\n

1.00\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lunch and travel to Maybole, by car share or train (Ayr to Maybole 13.29 (11 mins) to see the town before the impact of THI\/ CARS investment just announced in 2017<\/p>\n

On 27 September we will have a day marking six conservation areas designated in Aberdeen in July 1968, thus covering two opposite ends of the country. IHBC will also partner Scottish Civic Trust in its annual conference on 50 Years of Conservation Areas in Scotland.
