Event launched to give young people the<\/u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

digital and creative skills they need to gain employment<\/u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

as we enter the \u2018Fourth Industrial Revolution\u2019<\/u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

<\/u>\u00a0<\/b><\/u>The world Economic Forum says we are entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in which computers and robots will not only take over manual work such as car manufacture and driving, but also much of the skilled knowledge-based work, such as teaching, accountancy and law.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

<\/u>\u00a0<\/u>One of the great challenges of our age is how we can equip ourselves, and our young people, to keep up with the ongoing development of digital technology, so that \u2018no one is left behind\u2019 in the workplace.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

That is why Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, birthplace of the first Industrial Revolution, is hosting a special event in collaboration with STEAM Co, Hadley Learning Community and local educators and employers on 4 July to help inspire young people to start thinking creatively about their career and the subjects that they take at school and university. The event is part of the Trust\u2019s 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary celebrations.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Called \u2018No One Left Behind\u2019, the event will take place in Enginuity, the National Design and Technology Centre at Ironbridge. It is designed to address the national shortage of young people selecting to study STEAM subjects \u2013 Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, and critically Arts. NESTA \u2013 the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts stated \u201cIn the UK, 87% of workers in creative jobs are found to be at low or no risk of automation. If your job uses creativity, it is fairly safe from the robots!\u201d<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Inspiring talks<\/u><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

<\/u>This inspirational day is aimed at students, parents, teachers and employers and will consist of a programme of keynote and shorter, rapid fire talks, by local and national speakers, activities and films that will help everyone understand the importance of STEAM subjects in giving children the best chance, ensuring no one is left behind.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
