The UK demolishes more than 50,000 buildings every single year, often at huge cost to their communities and the environment.<\/p>\n
Through the stories of places that were once threatened \u2013 from New York’s Grand Central Station to Sheffield\u2019s Park Hill \u2013 Kevin McCloud will show that what we save is far more than just bricks and mortar. In his “manifesto for the imagination” he reveals the power of reinvention.<\/p>\n
Kevin McCloud is a designer, writer and broadcaster who has presented Channel 4\u2019s\u00a0Grand Designs<\/em>\u00a0since its launch in 1999. He often presents the RIBA Stirling Prize and House of the Year coverage \u2013 and most recently fronted\u00a0Kevin McCloud’s Rough Guide to the Future.<\/em><\/p>\n We are grateful to the V&A for hosting the event. It is a fitting location for our 50th anniversary lecture.
