Lawrence Weaver (1876-1930) has been described as \u2018the first architectural critic in the modern sense of the
\nword\u2019. Between 1905 and 1917 he published 42 articles about Scottish architecture in Country Life \u2013
\ndescribing 18 castles and palaces, and ten buildings designed or restored by Robert Lorimer. The
\nprofessional partnership and close friendship between the two men benefited both, introducing Weaver to the
\nromance of Scottish architecture and making Lorimer\u2019s work widely known.<\/p>\n
