Soft Capping Masonry Ruins

Southwell, Trebeck Hall, Bishops Drive and Archbishops Palace

Southwell Minster has received a Heritage Lottery Grant to repair and improve the former Archbishops Palace adjacent to Southwell Minster. As part of this project the ruins of the Archbishops palace(Sheduled Ancient Monument) will have some conservation work undertaken. These works involve removal of some inappropriate stone indenting, removal of cement pointing, protection of wall heads with soft capping and rough racking. This is a great opportunity to receive training and practical experience from two very experienced professionals from English Heritage in soft capping techniques.
