David Caird, Director for Creative Re-use at Fergusson Mann Architects will present a talk into the background and architectural context of the work that Skidmore Owens and Merrill were undertaking in the 1970s at the time of the commission for the WD&HO Wills HQ Building. It will explore design strategy and the materiality of the buildings that emerged to fulfill the program set by WD&HO Wills. This context will set the scene for an analysis of the design approach and conservation strategies adopted by the team for the recent regeneration and transformation of the building for Urban Splash.
