The vulnerability of everyday heritage has become more widely recognised in recent years, but its significance, its contribution to the character of the historic environment and its pivotal importance to local communities and their cultural memory are still under-explored and undervalued. This is the first in a planned series of linked courses seeking to redress that imbalance, exploring everyday heritage, its importance to communities and the local historic environment, and the issues that affect its conservation and benign use and development. This course will focus on housing and open spaces in towns, and a range of common types of public buildings.
