Event organised by the IHBC Scotland Branch

Talks on roofing material including lead and zinc used on historic buildings. Demonstration of good practice in lead jointing, shaping lead on to awkward roofs, slate trimming and laying with opportunities to be “hands on” for the braver members of the audience. Then walk or drive the short distance to Newhailes. Re-assemble in stable courtyard / café. Picnic lunch -either bring own or coffees and soups/ snacks etc purchasable at café. Shelter available if inclement.

Presentation of new approach to be taken by the National Trust for Scotland, demonstrated at Newhailes just before it closes for refurbishment.

Short tour of the grounds, then entry to Newhailes House for exclusive tour of the house. First come first served.

£20 – IHBC Members/Affiliates/Associates and potential members
£10 extra, or bring your NTS membership card if you have one, to access the house tour.
