Ramsgate Historic Quarter: Paradise Lost RHQS Heritage Open Day
Ramsgate Historic Quarter
Paradise Lost RHQS Heritage Open Day
In the early 18th century before the town became a popular resort the Ramsgate Historic Quarter was inhabited by Sea Captains who made their fortunes trading with the Baltic. It was known as ‘Westminster’, not only because it was on a road going west but because of the quality of its architecture.
Three historic properties in Paradise will be open to the public for tours. There are a variety of ships timbers to be seen as well as the entrance to a tunnel in the chalk. Also an exhibition of old maps, artefacts and books.
Folk band Men of Chalk will play from 4 pm and there will be sea biscuits and ale. in the garden.
This is a free event and everyone is welcome.
