MSCPD: Metalwork in older buildings – corrosion defects explained
Thursday, 15th January 2026
On line
The use of structural metalwork in buildings isn’t new but many of those earlier, perhaps innovative, steel framed buildings are now of an age where corrosion (usually hidden) is increasingly seen as a risk. Accessing the steelwork is rarely easy. This can be just as likely found in some types of residential houses as it might in industrial structures. Post-war steel frame houses are included in this category. This CPD will also include terracotta and faience clad buildings.
Topics covered:
In this session, we will:
- The use of structural metalwork in buildings
- ‘Regent Street disease’
- Steel reinforcement in concrete
