C20 Society: Bristol Weekend
Date: Thu 30 April – Sat 2 May
Location: Start time/place: 6pm/The Arnolfini Centre, 16 Narrow Quay, Bristol, BS1 4QA
Finish time/place: early afternoon/Bristol city centre
Starting off at 6:30pm Thursday 30 April with a lecture on Brutalism/C20 architecture at The Arnolfini, followed by drinks at ‘The Architect’ – Design West’s riverside bar next door.
Friday and Saturday will include walking tours of Bristol led by Andrew Eberlin (author of ‘Brutiful Bristol’) and Elliott Sargeant (Bristol Modernist Society), which will give a chance to see the interior of The Broadmead Baptist Church (‘above the shops’) (Ronald Hubert Sims, 1969) and take in the view from the top of the Rupert Street Car Park. We will also visit the The Stradling Collection to see the Bauhaus, Breuer, Bristol exhibition.
The tour is being organised by Jenny Berrisford, who is a mid-century enthusiast and supporter of C20 Society; she restored and lives in Mervyn Seal’s Grade II listed Parkham Wood House.
Cost: £190
